Dear Mrs Ramadan,
In regards to LMP Productions, I am writing to persuade and explain the reason’s it is necessary and essential to include a replica weapon in our short film ‘indoctrinated’, we are aware that this goes against OCR guidelines but it would be as essential factor in our film. The film is an action thriller that follows the life of a gaming addict and the repercussions of this on the characters well being.
As the character is playing GTA V, A violent game that includes shooting and our films theme is confusing the game and reality we thought it would be very important for there to be a gun in the film to show that the game has come to real life. After trying to add pre keyed effects of a gun, but this was not successful, as we did not have enough special effects knowledge and skill to do this and make the gun look realistic, we decided it would be necessary to use a fake plastic gun in the final scene.
Furthermore in our sub genre of action guns and weapons are an essential convention and to fit into this genre it will be essential for us to use a fake plastic gun, as this will allow the audience to understand the media text and establish the genre of action.
The main idea we are using the gun for is a scene we have see in “MIS FITS” where a man becomes confused between reality and the game and shoots on of the characters, this would obviously be done through editing and no harm or danger would be caused.
We hope this letter can change your mind about allowing us to use a plastic gun in our film. Hope we will hear the decision soon.
You’re sincerely
Minda Grizas
